The Attitude that changes Everything!
As we approach Thanksgiving of 2020 as I write this, I felt that I really needed to share my thoughts on gratitude and giving thanks. It’s SUPER important to be grateful for everything you have! Here’s why…
- It feels good!
- It makes people around you feel good!
- It manifests more things to be grateful for!
Gratitude is not something that happens as a symptom of your circumstances. It is a choice.
Follow this recipe that I’m about to share with you and I guarantee that it will change your life.
Your ingredients:
- Be Grateful Now! – Too many times do I hear “I’ll be grateful when I get this promotion.” Or “I’ll be grateful when I win the lottery.” Or “I’ll be grateful when….(insert whatever)” You have hundreds, if not thousands, of things in your life to be grateful for. I don’t need to know you to say this because it’s a fact no matter who you are! Family, friends, health, a roof over your head, a cat that loves you, etc ad infinitum. Don’t wait for things to be grateful for! You already have them! Choose to see what you have and be grateful!
- Make a list – I do this twice a day. When I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed. It’s best to write down everything that you can think of that you are grateful to have. There’s something truly magical about writing things down by hand that the mind responds to. Try it and you will be amazed at how many good things you actually have in your life! Writing a list will focus and intensify your feelings of gratitude!
- Adjust your perception! – These last couple of years have been rough! Covid-19, the election, civil unrest plus we’ve lost Prince, Alex Trebeck, George Michael, Eddie Van Halen and others. But I say thank you for my health, thank you for the people around me and thank you for the music (I Love ABBA, sorry not sorry) and all the good memories! You have to choose to focus on what you have and not on what’s been lost. You can’t change Reality, only your perception of it.
- Remind yourself! – When my alarm goes off, my phone tells me to be grateful. There’s a Post-It note on my mirror telling me to be grateful. I have 10 different reminders that recur daily telling me to be grateful. This is my way of ensuring that I never forget to practice gratitude, ALL day, EVERY day. Life getsm busy and it’s easy to get off track and lose focus. Set up your own external reminders so that you can always remember.
- Feel it!!! – Make gratitude your obsession! Wallow in it. Let it dominate your entire being. Be grateful every chance you get for as long as you can. When you make it into your “Go To Feeling”, the way that you will deal with every situation changes. The more often you choose to be grateful, the more grateful you will feel, which will make that choice easier the next time. Create for yourself an endless loop of Awesome!
My beliefs are well documented on The Law of Attraction. And gratitude is my weapon of choice. What you feel most often and most powerfully manifests as circumstances and experiences that give you more of that feeling. If the universe gives you more things to make you feel gratitude, are you ever going to be disappointed?
